The Role of Catholic Trustees – OCSTA Speaker Series Event – Register Now
As per the memo that was recently sent to all OCSTA members, we are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, October 1st at 6:30 p.m. the OCSTA Catholic Education Leadership Speaker Series will welcome back renowned historian, former Catholic School Trustee and former Principal of the University of St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto, Dr. Mark McGowan.
During this 1-hour presentation, Dr. McGowan will discuss from a historical perspective the role and contributions of democratically elected Catholic School Trustees in the development, promotion and protection of publicly funded Catholic education in Ontario.
WHEN: Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.

OCSTA Short Video Contest for Students
A few weeks ago the Association announced the launch of the annual OCSTA Short Video Contest for Students. This year’s theme is Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness and is open to students in grades 4-12 at Ontario’s publicly funded Catholic schools.
Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness is the OCSTA 2025-26 Catholic Education Theme that will be celebrated throughout the year culminating with Catholic Education Week in May.
This short-video contest is an exciting opportunity for students to use the engaging video medium to create 2-minute presentations that demonstrate how they are “Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness” in their Catholic school communities. To learn more click here.
