OCSTA 90th Anniversary Evening Speaker Series
This Wednesday, December 9th at 7 p.m. we are pleased to be hosting the second event in the OCSTA 90th Anniversary Speaker Series. All OCSTA members are invited to register for this special evening of Advent reflections with His Eminence Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto. This virtual session will be hosted live on the Zoom videoconferencing platform so you can enjoy this evening with Cardinal Collins and your colleagues from the comfort of your home.

2021 Catholic Trustees Seminar:
The 2021 annual Catholic Trustees Seminar will be hosted virtually on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The event happens on Saturday, January 16, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Intensive Program in Human Rights
This past summer, the Minister of Education announced actions to address racism and systemic inequities in the education system. These actions include professional learning opportunities for school board leaders and staff on advancing human rights and equity for school communities.
The Intensive Program in Human Rights for School Board Leaders, was designed for Trustees in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the trustees’ associations to inform its design and delivery. A specific session has been developed within this program to include the Catholic faith perspective and considerations within the Catholic school system and the date for Part A of that session is Friday, January 15, 2021. There will be a Part B (that is included in the registration fee) however the date for Part B is still being finalized.

Legislative Update
The Legislative Assembly of Ontario is scheduled to rise for Winter Recess on December 10, 2020. MPPs will return to Queen’s Park on February 16, 2021.
Consultation guidelines regarding next year’s Grants for Student Needs is contained in The 2021-22 Education Funding Consultation Guide . Topics listed in the guide include: COVID-19 Outbreak Response, the Online Learning Adjustment, the Priorities and Partnerships Fund, Reducing Administrative Burden and Red Tape, the School Board Administration and Governance Grant, Managing Information for Student Achievement (MISA), Census Data and Secondary Class Size Compliance. Submissions are due January 15, 2021.

The OCSTA annual Finance Brief has been approved by the OCSTA Board of Directors and all members are encouraged to review the brief which is stored in the brief submission section of the OCSTA website and can be viewed directly here.
