As part of the 2012 celebration of the Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict in 2011, the York Catholic District School Board’s secondary and elementary school students participated in a unique local “Walk of Faith.”

The initiative involved the carrying of 15 large crosses from one school to another.  Each of the crosses were designed by secondary school teams.

More than a physical exercise, the walk also involved an important meeting between students that featured greetings and a reflection on the symbolism of carrying a crucifix, the journey involved in a spiritual pilgrimage, and the public display of Faith.

Students from St. Veronica CES in Woodbridge carry the Walk of Faith cross into their school's gym prior to a special liturgy to mark the pilgrimage.
