The city of Toronto may be known internationally for its world famous TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), but there’s another film festival in Toronto generating a lot of buzz.
The Toronto Catholic Family Film Festival (TCFF) is a new film festival launched by the Toronto Catholic District School Board as an initiative celebrating the Year of the Family.
Earlier this year the TCDSB invited schools to submit short films focusing on the theme of family. Thirty-five films were created and submitted for review. Of that amount 20 were shortlisted through an online process where students, staff, trustees, and families had an opportunity to vote for their top films.
A special review panel then further narrowed the list of finalists down to a list of 10 films. The special review panel included:
- Fr. Tom Rosica, Salt+Light
- Rick Bennett, Toronto Film School
- Michelle-Nolden Szarka, Lakeshorts Film Festival
- Angela Gauthier, TCDSB Director of Education
- Geoffrey Grant, Superintendent Area 8
