From the Northeastern CDSB: The staff and students at Timmins’ O’Gorman Catholic High School are being challenged to make kindness a more conscious focus at high school life.  Darren Berthier, OHS Principal commented “We hope this extends to our OHS families as well so that school and home have a common Kindness Matters focus! We are providing the Kindness Matters at OHS green rubber bracelets to students who are willing to take the pledge and sign the banner.”

Administration, guidance and the LINK Crew students handed out “Kindness Matters” bracelets to Grade 8 students during the Grade 8 Parent and Student Information Session in late February.  “This will provide our future Grade 9 students with an understanding of what our school stands for and know that Kindness Matters at O’Gorman High.” further noted Mr. Berthier.

Earlier this year Mr. Berthier met with each grade and introduced the Kindness Matters campaign with Jewel’s song “Hands”.  As the song played, the lyrics were shown to the students.  The end of the song states: “In the end only kindness matters…” which served to reinforce the OHS Kindness Matters theme.  Mr. Berthier concluded each grade assembly by tying the kindness theme in with the model of Jesus, a person who fully embodied Kindness Matters.

A banner with the OHS Kindness Matters logo and our student and staff signatures will hang in the Common Area at O’Gorman High School.   Kindness Matters!
