Last week the province celebrated Catholic Education Week and it is our hope that trustees, students and staff experienced a wonderful sense and appreciation for our strong and vital publicly funded Catholic schools in Ontario. Today’s post examines how some of our youngest students expressed that appreciation.

Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Stoney Creek invited special guests into their school to read with students and to spend the day celebrating the qualities that make successful Catholic graduates.

Trustee Patrick Daly, Chair of the Hamilton-Wentworth CDSB and President of OCSTA, was among those accepting the special invitation to Our Lady of Assumption CES. In addition to reading a book to the grade 3 classes, Trustee Daly received a unique booklet, created by the grade 3 classes that contained hand written, answers and pictures that wonderfully explained how and why Catholic education is a special gift to each student.
