Since the closure of schools to help curb the spread of COVID-19, St. John Catholic Elementary School at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario has been supporting the Perth community in a special way.

In late March, the school distributed to local families in need, 34 grocery cards valued at $100 each. The Perth Courier published a story which highlighted the school’s efforts, as well as that of neighbouring St. John Parish. Following the story, the school received additional donations from the community.

Recently staff at St. John’s Parish completed round two of grocery card donations, delivering $100 grocery gift cards to 48 families. In total, $8,200 in grocery gift cards have been distributed.

Read the story from the Perth Courier.

Thank you CDSB of Eastern ONtario and this is just one of dozens of stories of empathy, service and compassion happening everyday in our Catholic school communities. Read more in our regular “Good News” postings on the OCSTA website.
