Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario Trustees, Senior Administration and School Principals gathered on April 14, 2010 in the first of three celebrations to mark the Year for Priests with clergy from the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall.
In his opening remarks, Director of Education, Wm. J. Gartland stated, “We are so very pleased to have you all here with us today to celebrate the contribution you each make to strengthen the bond between our parishes, our schools, and our homes. Today is about expressing our gratitude for the outstanding guidance you provide our students and our staff.”
The Board was blessed to have his Excellency Bishop Paul-André Durocher in attendance to lead Grace and to say a few words on behalf of the Diocese.
Lunch gave all the opportunity to hold informal discussions about Catholic education in Ontario and to reflect on the efforts of such groups as Friends and Advocates for Catholic Education (FACE) and the Board’s Catholic Education Coalition (CEC) to preserve, proclaim and protect our school system. It was an opportunity for us to celebrate everyone’s contributions.
The CDSBEO is hosting three luncheons to celebrate the Year for Priests. There will be one celebration for each of the Dioceses represented within our eight counties (the Archdiocese of Ottawa, the Archdiocese of Kingston, and the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall).
