During Catholic Education Week, On Thursday, May 5, 2016, St. Justin, Martyr CES in Unionville held the official opening and blessing of its new outdoor learning area.

Many special guests attended the May 5th event that was organized by the school’s Environment Club. There was a wonderful para-liturgical celebration complete with songs by the school’s Glee Club. Following a Blessing by Father Derek, Principal Michael Neilands read Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree,” which reminded everyone of the importance of trees in our lives.

To complete the celebration, representatives of the financial sponsors of this project: Mei Zhou from TD Canada Trust’s 8601 Warden Avenue branch and Ricky Yuen, Chair of the Catholic School Council, helped Mr. Neilands cut a green ribbon to officially open the outdoor learning area as staff and students cheered.
