Winning entry from St. Edmund Campion CSS (Dufferin-Peel CDSB) for the 2014 “Advent” themed short-video contest.

We’re pleased to announce that OCSTA is now accepting submissions for the fall 2016 short-video contest for grade 4-12 students in Ontario’s publicly funded English Catholic schools. The contest theme for 2016 is:

“The Story Behind the Name of our Catholic School”

This year’s theme is designed to encourage students to delve into the history of the person/saint for whom their school was named, and to be creative in telling that story.  The deadline for submissions is November 28, 2016.

Contest participants are invited to create a 2-minute video about the person/saint for whom their school was named and include in that video some explanation as to why that person is inspirational to students today. Contest guidelines and submission forms are online and are located at:

Public Screening of All Submissions!

All submissions that meet contest guideline requirements will be shared with the public throughout the fall and the new year via the OCSTA YouTube channel. In this way we hope that more parents, students, teachers, parishioners, and friends of Catholic education will be able to enjoy the messages and the celebration of our faith represented in these videos.

We are pleased to be able to provide the following awards:

First place: $300 Best Buy Gift Certificate
Second place: $150 Best Buy Gift Certificate
Third place: $100 Indigo Gift Certificate

The winning entries will be announced at OCSTA’s annual Catholic Trustees’ Seminar, January 13, 2017.

Thank you to all our Catholic school boards for their support of this initiative.
