London-Habitat-09smThe school community at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School in Delaware completed a two-year fundraiser with the presentation of a cheque of more than $8500 to build a new school in Africa.
The cheque was presented in June to Fr. Frank Murphy, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Delaware. The money will go to Free the Children to build the school in the African Rift Valley.

Two years ago, students formed the Youth in Action Group at the school, to raise awareness of those less fortunate in third world countries; to better understand social issues and to raise the funds for the school. The drive was spearheaded by two parents in the school community. It involved collecting 566 pounds of pennies, a popcorn drive, dress down days and many more activities. “
