From the Niagara Catholic DSB: Director of Education, John Crocco, is extremely proud to announce that Niagara Catholic has once again been internationally recognized for its continued commitment to student success as the only school board in North, South and Central America to receive the Global Best Award.
Board Chair Kathy Burtnik said Niagara Catholic’s community partnership benefit students as well as the entire Niagara region.
“For many years, Niagara Catholic has nurtured relationships with community partners through our Co-operative and Specialist High Skills Majors Programs,” said Mrs. Burtnik. “It is imperative that students leave our schools prepared for life in a global, 21st century economy. Partnerships such as the ones Niagara Catholic has created with the Niagara Parks Commission, Shaw Festival, Holiday Inn Convention Centre and many members of our manufacturing industry benefit our students by providing them with the expertise of people working in the field and the experience of working with the latest technology. It also strengthens our communities by creating a strong workforce for the future.”
Mr. Crocco said Niagara Catholic’s partnerships have allowed students to discover new gifts and talents as they explore new potential career paths.
“We are exceptionally proud to once again be recognized by the International education business Partnership Network and the Conference Board of Canada,” said Mr. Crocco. “As educators and members of our community, we truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. The partnerships that extend beyond the walls of our schools present enriching opportunities for our students to enhance their skills, and to explore areas that they might not otherwise have explored.
The Global Best Awards are presented biennially by the International education business Partnership Network (IPN) and the Conference Board of Canada. The Awards recognize the outstanding and effective business, education and community partnerships that demonstrate significant impact on the communities in which they operate.
Niagara Catholic has been invited to receive the award during the International education business Partnership Network’s 2012 Conference in Durban, South Africa, from September 25th – 28th.
