For the fourth year in a row, the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board has met with their local Members of Provincial Parliament to convey the message of the invaluable contribution that our Catholic schools bring to the community and to the province. Trustees and their Director of Education met with Huron-Bruce MPP, Lisa Thompson and Perth Wellington MPP, Randy Pettapiece.
Highlights of a recent meeting included the celebration of Catholic education and in particular our Catholic curriculum. Other topics addressed included the Board’s successful EQAO results, the Secondary High Skills Major programs, resources, retention strategies as well as challenges with declining enrolment and the subsequent decrease in funding.
Both MPPs were supportive and have assured board trustees that their voice and their party would continue to support publicly funded Catholic schools.
